This paper provides an overview of the existing and new cybersecurity standards for nuclear power plants around the world.
The IEC 62645 is the top level standard by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on the issue of cybersecurity requirements for digital instrumentation and control (I&C) systems. It focuses on computer security programmes, architectures and system development processes to prevent and/or minimize the impact of cyberattacks.
The IEC 62859 is a newly approved standard, issued at the end of 2016, which coordinates safety and cybersecurity requirements for I&C systems.
The new project on security controls, IEC 63096, will produce a catalog of cybersecurity measures, enabling in a detailedand technical manner, solutions to fulfill the high-level requirements set by the aforementioned standards.
