Candidates for leadership provide statements: ANS Board of Directors
With the annual ANS election right around the corner, American Nuclear Society members will be going to the polls to vote for a vice president/president-elect, treasurer, and members-at-large for the Board of Directors. In January, Nuclear News published statements from candidates for vice president/president-elect and treasurer. This month, we are featuring statements from each nominee for the Board of Directors.

A number of sodium fire experiments have been analyzed using the SPOOL-FIRE code, which is available from the Argonne Code Center. Good agreement is observed between theoretical calculation and experimental results. The same experiments have been analyzed previously by workers using the SPRAY-1 and CACECO codes, and our results are compatible with the results from these codes. SPOOL-FIRE is a fast-running code and can handle both sodium spray fire and pool fire simultaneously. Results of this analysis suggest specific areas where experiments are needed to further our understanding of the mechanism of sodium burning.
