The total neutron cross sections of several structural materials have been measured over the thermal range of energy. A plate of commercial wrought nickel, thin sheets of 61,S aluminum and a cylinder of 2S aluminum of 3-in. diameter were studied. The results of the measurements are compared with previous results and the observed differences are interpreted in terms of crystal structure.
