This division promotes the development and timely introduction of fusion energy as a sustainable energy source with favorable economic, environmental, and safety attributes. DOE-EM awards $37.5M to Vanderbilt University for nuclear cleanup support
The Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management announced on January 16 that it has awarded a noncompetitive financial assistance agreement worth $37.5 million to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., to aid the department’s mission of cleaning up legacy nuclear waste.

A formalism has been given for determining monoenergetic diffusion theory flux peaking at a sharp corner. Advantage is taken of the special behavior of a Bessel function which seldom occurs in the literature. Specific and simple formulas are presented for the peaking, with quantitative guides for their mathematical accuracy when the formulae are known to be approximate.
