Swiss nuclear power and the case for long-term operation
Designed for 40 years but built to last far longer, Switzerland’s nuclear power plants have all entered long-term operation. Yet age alone says little about safety or performance. Through continuous upgrades, strict regulatory oversight, and extensive aging management, the country’s reactors are being prepared for decades of continued operation, in line with international practice.

Decay ratio was estimated via a simplified method from the impulse response function that had been evaluated using a univariable autoregression method. Suggested estimation was utilized in neutron noise measurements carried out during seven fuel cycles of a 1300-MW(electric) pressurized water reactor. Results show that such an evaluation method can be used to monitor the increasing oscillation of the neutron flux during the fuel cycle.
