DTRA’s advancements in nuclear and radiological detection
A new, more complex nuclear age has begun. Echoing the tensions of the Cold War amid rapidly evolving nuclear and radiological threats, preparedness in the modern age is a contest of scientific innovation. The Research and Development Directorate (RD) at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) is charged with winning this contest.

Neutron transmission measurements from 100 eV to 170 keV at 150 m through four 238U samples are reported. The energy calibration is described, and the resultant 238U resolved resonance energies are found to be intermediate between those from other workers. In addition, some energies for sharp resonances in 23Na, 27Al, 32S, and 206Pb are given.
