Division Spotlight
Nuclear Criticality Safety
NCSD provides communication among nuclear criticality safety professionals through the development of standards, the evolution of training methods and materials, the presentation of technical data and procedures, and the creation of specialty publications. In these ways, the division furthers the exchange of technical information on nuclear criticality safety with the ultimate goal of promoting the safe handling of fissionable materials outside reactors.

Twas the night before Christmas when all through the houseNo electrons were flowing through even my mouse.
All devices were plugged in by the chimney with careWith the hope that St. Nikola Tesla would share.

Ontario Hydro has developed a computer program called FLOSHEET for simulation of hydrogen isotope and fusion fuel processing systems. The development of the program was initiated to provide support for the commissioning and operation of the Darlington Tritium Removal Facility (DTRF) at Ontario Hydro's Nuclear Generating Station A. The program has also proven useful in simulating tritium systems in fusion applications. FLOSHEET has been developed as a general purpose simulator which can be used to simulate many different types of processes and process flowsheets. This paper describes the FLOSHEET process simulator and its application to the DTRF and fusion reactor tritium systems.
