The latest embodiment1 (Ignitor Ult) of an advanced machine with the purpose of investigating D-T burn ignition conditions is presented. The main engineering characteristics and the design of the machine's principal components are driven by the plasma parameters that have to be achieved while ensuring the stability of the chosen equilibrium configuration of the plasma column.
