Biography: A graduate of the University of Southern California, Shuler holds three master’s degrees and a doctorate. He has earned nine professional certifications, authored and coauthored more than 230 publications, and is a coinventor on six patents during his lifetime.
Shuler has worked for Allied-General Nuclear Services, Chem-Nuclear Services, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the DOE. He is a Fellow of the Health Physics Society, the National Registration of Radiation Protection Technicians, and the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM). He served as a member of WM Symposia Program Advisory Committee (WM PAC) for many years in the Transportation and Packaging Track.
Gary Benda, WM PAC chair, remarked, “Dr. Shuler has devoted his entire 50-year career in developing policy and innovations in increasing safety in the transport of radioactive materials.”
Honors: Shuler’s honors include receiving lifetime achievement awards from RFID Journal Live and the International Symposium on the Packaging and Transport of Radioactive Materials, the Distinguished Achievement Award from INMM, and the National Public Service Award from the American Society for Public Administration.
