Surplus Parts: Circuit Board Example
Partnership
Westinghouse Parts Business and The Park Company are working together to develop solutions for industry obsolescence challenges. The Park Company has provided bridging strategies for many non-safety solutions and with Westinghouse’s parts engineering expertise multiple safety-related items have been delivered to nuclear power plant customers. The Westinghouse-Park Company team is actively developing safety-related replacements for obsolete circuit boards, converters, and other critical components.
For example, the partnership is currently investigating an obsolete Terry Turbine part for BWRs via a pilot project to reverse engineer a component that is no longer supported by the OEM. The scope of this project is:
1. Reverse Engineer the S4 variant of the 9038-AG1 float operated mechanical alternator.
2. Produce a form-fit-functional replacement for the original 9038-AG1-S4 Terry Turbine mechanical alternator.
The Westinghouse-Park Company team is structured to develop effective solutions for difficult obsolescence challenges.
