The Expo is being held to wrap up the first USA Science & Engineering Festival, which is being held October 10-24, 2010, throughout the Washington, D.C. metro area. The festival hopes to inspire the next generation of scientist and engineers. Two weeks of events, including student lunches with Nobel Laureates, visits to area schools by scientists and engineers, and science open houses for the general public, will encourage kids to consider careers in science and engineering.
The grand finale is the two-day Expo on October 23-24 at the National Mall. Highlights include:
- More than 1500 interactive, hands-on, fun exhibits exploring the science of superheroes, baseball, Thanksgiving dinner, space exploration, next generation renewable energy, endangered animals and much, much more.
- Fifty stage shows featuring science celebrities, rappers, musicians, magicians, comedians-even members of the Washington Redskins cheerleaders will be shouting out for science!
- More than 25 satellite events to be held across the nation so that everyone can join in.
The ANS exhibit will be supported by ANS Outreach staff and by members of the Washington, D.C. ANS Local Section. The USA Science & Engineering Festival is free of charge, so be sure to visit!
