The target in-service dates for the Vogtle nuclear expansion project remain November 2021 for Unit 3 and November 2022 for Unit 4, plant owner Georgia Power announced in an August 31 report to the Georgia Public Service Commission. The project is now approximately 87 percent complete.

The company’s Twenty-third Semi-annual Vogtle Construction Monitoring Report also addresses the project’s COVID-19 situation, stating, “As of the date of this filing, over 800 workers on site have tested positive, with over 700 eligible to return to work, since the beginning of the pandemic. In recent weeks, the site has followed the general trend in the region with a decline in the number of active cases.”

The 52-page report covers the period from January 1, 2020, through June 30, 2020.
