The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is increasing its social media presence with its new Instagram page, the agency announced. The "nrcgov” account on the popular site will post photos, short videos, and graphics to add “a more creative approach to information regarding the NRC’s mission, with a focus on the skilled and diverse employees who carry it out.”

Social media presence: NRC chair Christopher T. Hanson said, “Social media augments our news releases, website, and other means we use to provide timely and transparent communications.” The commission had previously set up pages on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Flickr. All of these pages can be accessed via the icons on the NRC’s homepage.

As of October 28, the NRC’s Instagram page had six posts and 177 followers. Its Facebook page has 10,000 followers; Twitter lists 16,600; there are 3,030 followers on YouTube; and Flickr has 243. By far, their largest following is on LinkedIn, with 30,820 followers.
