NRC engineers share their expertise at the University of Puerto Rico
Robert Roche-Rivera and Marcos Rolón-Acevedo are licensed professional engineers who work at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. They are also alumni of the University of Puerto Rico–Mayagüez (UPRM) and have been sharing their knowledge and experience with students at their alma mater since last year, serving as adjunct professors in the university’s Department of Mechanical Engineering. Earning a credential--whether it be a license, certification, or degree--is much more than the letters after your name or a certificate on the wall. It's a way to gain specific knowledge and skills, demonstrate your credibility and value to employers, and help you stand out among your peers. During this session, we will explore how various credentials can make a difference in your career in the nuclear industry and which credentials are most consistent with your professional goals. Panelists will share their stories about the impacts these credentials have had in their careers, and you will have ample opportunity to interact and ask questions. The credentials covered during this session include: Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) certification/license, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Master of Business Administration (MBA), and advanced engineering degrees (master's, Ph.D.).
