Nuclear Nonproliferation Policy
The mission of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Policy Division (NNPD) is to promote the peaceful use of nuclear technology while simultaneously preventing the diversion and misuse of nuclear material and technology through appropriate safeguards and security, and promotion of nuclear nonproliferation policies. To achieve this mission, the objectives of the NNPD are to: Promote policy that discourages the proliferation of nuclear technology and material to inappropriate entities. Provide information to ANS members, the technical community at large, opinion leaders, and decision makers to improve their understanding of nuclear nonproliferation issues. Become a recognized technical resource on nuclear nonproliferation, safeguards, and security issues. Serve as the integration and coordination body for nuclear nonproliferation activities for the ANS. Work cooperatively with other ANS divisions to achieve these objective nonproliferation policies.

State legislation: Texas considers $2B incentive fund to attract new nuclear projects
A bill being considered in the Texas legislature would create a taxpayer-funded program to draw advanced nuclear projects to the state.
GOP state Rep. Cody Harris authored House Bill 14, which proposes use of public dollars to help fund nuclear construction, provide grants for reactors, and continue development research. The legislation would allocate up to $2 billion for a new Texas Advanced Nuclear Deployment Office and create within it a state coordinator position to assist in the state and federal permitting processes, according to Inside Climate News.

Ms Mykolaichuk joined the IAEA in January 2019 and is responsible for advancing information exchange and collaborative activities of Member States in the fields of nuclear facility decommissioning and environmental remediation.
Prior to joining IAEA, Ms Olena Mykolaichuk had 30 years of experience in the nuclear energy field mainly related with nuclear policy and nuclear safety issues, radioactive waste management, decommissioning and environmental remediation. She spent about 20 years working for the national nuclear safety authority, most of that at the top managerial positions. She used to work at the Chernobyl NPP, including being the Deputy Director General, and at different engineering and consulting companies in the nuclear energy field.
Ms Mykolaichuk is a Ukraine national and holds a M.S. degree in Physics and Mechanics of Chemical Processes from Moscow Physical and Technical University.
