Over the past decade, there have been significant advancements in the development of new robots and remote systems for a variety of extreme environments. Many of these innovations have potential applications in the nuclear industry. This panel will discuss the state-of-the-art advancements in robots and remote systems for extreme environments, as well as the opportunities and challenges of adapting these technologies to the nuclear sector. Working in the area of high radiation is a challenge for commercial off-the-shelf robots. Panelists will talk about their success/challenges in designing custom robotics to tackle this challenge.
