AI at work: Southern Nuclear’s adoption of Copilot agents drives fleet forward
Southern Nuclear is leading the charge in artificial intelligence integration, with employee-developed applications driving efficiencies in maintenance, operations, safety, and performance.
The tools span all roles within the company, with thousands of documented uses throughout the fleet, including improved maintenance efficiency, risk awareness in maintenance activities, and better-informed decision-making. The data-intensive process of preparing for and executing maintenance operations is streamlined by leveraging AI to put the right information at the fingertips for maintenance leaders, planners, schedulers, engineers, and technicians.
Educational Session|Panel|Sponsored by Plant Reliability
Monday, August 5, 2024|9:30–11:00AM EDT|Banyan 2
Our industry is at a pivotal point. The US looks to decarbonize the generation industry at a time when load projections indicate an unprecedented increase in power demand over the next few decades. In this environment, the demand signal for nuclear power is extremely high. To meet the moment, our existing fleet continues to push for high levels of plant performance to maximize the output of clean megawatts to the grid. Plant capacity factors at all-time highs have demonstrated the collective success achieved in the reliability of our plants. However, an unrelenting focus on equipment reliability is critical to ensure sustained high levels of performance during this crucial time for our industry. This session will bring both INPO and utility perspectives on the need to “stay on top” of equipment reliability as an industry to continue to achieve high levels of performance. The discussion will provide fresh perspective on where the industry stands with addressing INPO actions from IER 21-4, share in-depth analysis of the increase trends in consequential, and share how a utility has built an equipment reliability program that is forward-looking and also adaptable to industry feedback to achieve the highest levels of plant reliability.
