Accelerator Applications
The division was organized to promote the advancement of knowledge of the use of particle accelerator technologies for nuclear and other applications. It focuses on production of neutrons and other particles, utilization of these particles for scientific or industrial purposes, such as the production or destruction of radionuclides significant to energy, medicine, defense or other endeavors, as well as imaging and diagnostics.

NRC issues Palisades’ draft environmental review, seeks public comment
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is asking for public comments until March 3 on its environmental assessment (EA) and draft finding of no significant impact at Michigan’s Palisades nuclear power plant, where Holtec hopes to restart operations by the end of 2025.

The objective of this session is to provide a discussion on the nuclear industry Plant License Renewal innovations, practices, challenges, and successes. The result would be to provide a better understanding of what is needed to make NPP fleet assets the long-lived platform necessary to develop other innovative roles for nuclear. Areas to be examined include: (1) Lessons Learned; (2) Big Hurdles; (3) Hidden Obstacles; and (4) Challenges that need Industry solutions. Plans for this session include a panel composed of Utility and Industry stakeholders from various levels within the organizations to discuss potential aspects of PLR followed by a facilitated discussion with the participants and attendees.
