Feinstein Institutes to research novel radiation countermeasure
The Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, home of the research institutes of New York’s Northwell Health, announced it has received a five-year, $2.9 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to investigate the potential of human ghrelin, a naturally occurring hormone, as a medical countermeasure against radiation-induced gastrointestinal syndrome (GI-ARS).

The objective of this session is to review existing innovative nuclear industry methods now available & being implemented elsewhere; the result would be guidance so that current fleets NPP assets could be more effectively utilized. Areas to be examined include: (1) ) new fuel & material applications; (2) engineering & construction innovations ; (3) AI technology used for operations enhancement-including simulation; (4) digital technology; (5) security staff efficiency improvements; (6) and Emergency planning arrangements. Plans for panel composition for this session are to invite industry stakeholders that represent key NPP operators, Vendors and/or government - regulators to review relevant details, present various methods, and share achieved results.
