Division Spotlight
Young Members Group
The Young Members Group works to encourage and enable all young professional members to be actively involved in the efforts and endeavors of the Society at all levels (Professional Divisions, ANS Governance, Local Sections, etc.) as they transition from the role of a student to the role of a professional. It sponsors non-technical workshops and meetings that provide professional development and networking opportunities for young professionals, collaborates with other Divisions and Groups in developing technical and non-technical content for topical and national meetings, encourages its members to participate in the activities of the Groups and Divisions that are closely related to their professional interests as well as in their local sections, introduces young members to the rules and governance structure of the Society, and nominates young professionals for awards and leadership opportunities available to members.

Tim Schlimpert (MCR Group)
Knowledge Manager:
Matthew Mairinger (OPG)
The objective of this session is to review existing wider nuclear industry cost reduction & efficiency improvement methods now available & being implemented elsewhere; the result would be guidance so that current NPP Fleet assets could be more efficiently utilized.
Areas to be examined include: (1) DOE/NNSA and Commercial DDER Radio assay assessments designed to cut down on Dose and time -personnel exposure ; (2) 4D CAD engineering & construction innovations such as used to design most current US Naval Reactors submarines ; (3) AI technology used for security operations enhancement for nuclear & related/other US government agencies ; (4) Wider Grid stability improvements in both security and reliability to benefit NPPs and ; (5) EPZ and Emergency planning arrangements that are more efficient.
Plans for panel composition for this session are to invite stakeholders to review relevant & available details that represent key NPP operators, SMR-Advanced Reactor designers, Vendors and/or government - regulators to share present methods and relevant useful results achieved.
