Division Spotlight
Young Members Group
The Young Members Group works to encourage and enable all young professional members to be actively involved in the efforts and endeavors of the Society at all levels (Professional Divisions, ANS Governance, Local Sections, etc.) as they transition from the role of a student to the role of a professional. It sponsors non-technical workshops and meetings that provide professional development and networking opportunities for young professionals, collaborates with other Divisions and Groups in developing technical and non-technical content for topical and national meetings, encourages its members to participate in the activities of the Groups and Divisions that are closely related to their professional interests as well as in their local sections, introduces young members to the rules and governance structure of the Society, and nominates young professionals for awards and leadership opportunities available to members.

X-energy, Dow apply to build an advanced reactor project in Texas
Dow and X-energy announced today that they have submitted a construction permit application to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for a proposed advanced nuclear project in Seadrift, Texas. The project could begin construction later this decade, but only if Dow confirms “the ability to deliver the project while achieving its financial return targets.”

Mr. Jean-Pierre Cayol, M.Sc., Ph.D., is the Departmental Program Coordinator for the Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). In the past almost 30 years, Mr. Cayol held several research and development, technical and managerial positions at the IAEA, at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as well as in the private sector, in fields related to nuclear techniques in agriculture and health, management of technical assistance in the Middle East and management of operational projects in the field. He holds a PhD in Animal Biology, and he is, by education, a specialist of the Sterile Insect Technique, a nuclear technique applied to control insect pests of economic significance. He is the author of over 50 scientific publications.
