Feinstein Institutes to research novel radiation countermeasure
The Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, home of the research institutes of New York’s Northwell Health, announced it has received a five-year, $2.9 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to investigate the potential of human ghrelin, a naturally occurring hormone, as a medical countermeasure against radiation-induced gastrointestinal syndrome (GI-ARS).

Bio: Student of Prof. Börje Johansson in Uppsala (alpha-Ce/gamma-Ce transition fame). Ph.D. 1994. LLNL 1994-present. APS Fellow 2008. Lead author on chapters for two plutonium books. First to acknowledge the importance of magnetism in plutonium (2001). H-index 51, ~8000 citations, most on the basis of plutonium and actinide theory publications.
