IAEA report confirms safety of discharged Fukushima water
An International Atomic Energy Agency task force has confirmed that the discharge of treated water from Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is proceeding in line with international safety standards. The task force’s findings were published in the agency’s fourth report since Tokyo Electric Power Company began discharging Fukushima’s treated and diluted water in August 2023.

Pacific Basin Nuclear Conference 2024 (PBNC)
Dr. Chae Young Lim is the Senior Vice President for Nuclear Policy and Strategy at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI). Previously, he was in charge of senior vice president of the Innovative Nuclear Reactor System, Nuclear Policy Division, and Research Project Management Division of KAERI.
Since he joined the KAERI in 1998, he has been mainly working on studies to draft a national nuclear promotion policy and electricity expansion plan. He was a member ofthe National Energy Committee, which consults the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy about major energy policy issues. He received his B.S. in Nuclear Engineeringfrom Seoul National University and earned a master’s and Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineeringfrom the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST)
