ANS is committed to advancing, fostering, and promoting the development and application of nuclear sciences and technologies to benefit society.
Explore the many uses for nuclear science and its impact on energy, the environment, healthcare, food, and more.
Division Spotlight
Mathematics & Computation
Division members promote the advancement of mathematical and computational methods for solving problems arising in all disciplines encompassed by the Society. They place particular emphasis on numerical techniques for efficient computer applications to aid in the dissemination, integration, and proper use of computer codes, including preparation of computational benchmark and development of standards for computing practices, and to encourage the development on new computer codes and broaden their use.

18th International Probabilistic Safety Assessment and Analysis (PSA 2023)
Workshop
Sunday, July 16, 2023|12:00–5:00PM EDT|Marriott Knoxville Downtown
Max. Attendees: 50
Description: Dynamic PRA methodologies explicitly account for the time element in probabilistic system evolution and heavily incorporate plant analysis/simulator tools to model possible dependencies between failure events that may arise from hardware/software/firmware/process/ human interactions. Dynamic PRA methodologies can also quantify the effects of phenomenological variability and model uncertainties on the consequences of upset conditions. They can benefit the PRA modeling of passive systems, including the representation of aging effects and digital instrumentation and control systems.
The workshop's objective is to provide a perspective on dynamic PRA methodologies, the circumstances under which they may be needed, and the existing challenges with their deployment. The use of some of the available software tools will be demonstrated.
