Division Spotlight
Mathematics & Computation
Division members promote the advancement of mathematical and computational methods for solving problems arising in all disciplines encompassed by the Society. They place particular emphasis on numerical techniques for efficient computer applications to aid in the dissemination, integration, and proper use of computer codes, including preparation of computational benchmark and development of standards for computing practices, and to encourage the development on new computer codes and broaden their use.

ANS certificate and certification courses continue to improve
The American Nuclear Society launched its inaugural Nuclear 101 certificate course at the 2024 ANS Winter Conference and Expo in November. The five-day program, which is designed to provide participants with a robust understanding of nuclear energy and engineering, was the talk of the conference, with nearly 50 attendees from different nuclear organizations participating in the course.
Millennitek manufactures technical ceramic components for use in commercial nuclear reactors, certified under an NQA-1 Quality Program. Specific products include neutron absorbers, neutron/gamma shielding, and specialty powders and are offered in both natural and enriched isotope grades. Product development focus areas are materials for radiation shielding, wear-resistance, ion-conducting ceramic membranes, and ultra-high temperature applications.
