Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board

The DNFSB, an independent agency in the Executive branch, oversees the safety of DOE’s defense nuclear facilities. It ensures these facilities, vital for the nuclear weapons stockpile, are safely designed, constructed, operated, and decommissioned.
