ANS is committed to advancing, fostering, and promoting the development and application of nuclear sciences and technologies to benefit society.
Explore the many uses for nuclear science and its impact on energy, the environment, healthcare, food, and more.
Division Spotlight
Reactor Physics
The division's objectives are to promote the advancement of knowledge and understanding of the fundamental physical phenomena characterizing nuclear reactors and other nuclear systems. The division encourages research and disseminates information through meetings and publications. Areas of technical interest include nuclear data, particle interactions and transport, reactor and nuclear systems analysis, methods, design, validation and operating experience and standards. The Wigner Award heads the awards program.

The Nuclear Installations Safety Division (NISD) is one of ANS's largest divisions. NISD is explicitly devoted to the safety of nuclear installations and the health and safety of the public; this division seeks a better understanding of the role of safety in the design, construction, and operation of nuclear installation facilities.
The Advanced Reactor Safety (ARS) conference, formerly entitled the International Topical Meeting on Advanced Reactor Safety and first held in 1994, is one of two conferences the Nuclear Installations Safety Division (NISD) has historically sponsored to support information sharing and networking across the safety community.
Thirty years from the first ARS conference, please join us in our NISD & ARS Networking Event to meet with the conference organizers, NISD EC officers, and committee members! The first drink is on us, and light appetizers will be provided.
