Division Spotlight
Accelerator Applications
The division was organized to promote the advancement of knowledge of the use of particle accelerator technologies for nuclear and other applications. It focuses on production of neutrons and other particles, utilization of these particles for scientific or industrial purposes, such as the production or destruction of radionuclides significant to energy, medicine, defense or other endeavors, as well as imaging and diagnostics.

PG&E launches AI solution at Diablo Canyon
Diablo Canyon will host a commercial installation of the first on-site generative artificial intelligence deployment at a U.S. nuclear plant.
Pacific Gas & Electric is deploying Atomic Canyon’s Neutron Enterprise to assist the utility’s management of datasets associated with operations of Diablo Canyon. The software, which runs on Nvidia’s full-stack AI platform, enables intelligent document processing, computation of semantic embeddings, and generative capabilities. Its infrastructure allows nuclear facilities to process and analyze vast amounts of complex documentation with unprecedented speed and accuracy, according to the company.
The National Program Committee is responsible for the general character of all technical meetings of which the ANS is the sponsor or a major co–sponsor; soliciting and receiving technical papers; approving special technical sessions or discussions; and establishing standards, schedules, and procedures for selection and presentation at these meetings. The Committee has two subcommittees: The National Screening Subcommittee reviews proposals for all Topical Meetings, and the National Meeting Subcommittee participates in the process for selection of future venues for ANS National Meetings.
